RemovetheignitionkeyandswitchoffALLelectrical
equipmentofBOTHvehicles,thenfollowtheinstructions
below:
1Connectaboostercablebetweenthepositive(+)
terminalsofbothbatteries.Connectanotherbooster
cablefromthenegativeterminalofthedonorbattery
(A)toagoodearthpoint(B)(anenginemountingor
otherunpaintedsurface,forexample),atleast0.5m
fromthebatteryofthedisabledvehicle.
2Checkthatthecablesareclearofmovingpartsof
bothengines,thenstarttheengineofthedonor
vehicleandallowittoidleforafewminutes.
3Nowstarttheengineofthevehiclewiththe
dischargedbattery(DONOTcranktheenginefor
morethan10seconds).Ifthedisabledvehiclewill
notstartafterseveralattempts,itmayneedtobe
repaired.PleasecontacttheMGAuthorisedRepairer
foranoverhaul.
4Afterboththevehicleshavenormallystarted,allow
theenginestoidleformorethan2minutesbefore
shuttingdowntheengineofthedonorvehicleand
disconnectingtheboostercables.
5Disconnectingtheboostercables.Disconnecting
theboostercablesmustbeanexactreversalofthe
procedureusedtoconnectthem,i.e.disconnectthe
BLACKnegativecablefromtheearthpointonthe
disabledvehicleFIRST .
IMPORTANT
NEVERturnonanyelectricalequipmentonthedisabled
vehiclebeforeremovingtheboostercables.
