tostartorstopautomaticallyunderidleconditions(such
aswaitingfortrafclights),thishelpstoimprovefuel
economyandallowsthevehicletostartorstopstablyand
reliably.
AftertheignitionswitchisturnedtoONposition,the
Start-Stopintelligentfuelsavingsystemisswitchedon
oroffaccordingtosavedon/offstatebeforeprevious
ame-out.Ifitisinonstate,thenitsswitchindicatorlamp
illuminates(2).
PressingthemainswitchoftheStart-Stopintelligentfuel
savingsystem(3)onthecentreconsolewillturnoffthe
Start-Stopintelligentfuelsavingsystem,anditsswitch
indicatorlampextinguishes(2).
Note:Ifvehicleisdrivingthroughdeepwater,please
usethemainswitchofStart-Stopintelligentfuel
savingsystem(3)toshutdownStart-Stopintelligent
fuelsavingsystem.
AutomaticShutdownofEngine
Althoughtheengineisnotrunningafteran
automaticstop,thevehicleisstilloperating,
thereforethefollowingactionscouldbe
dangerous:
Leavingthevehiclewhiletheseatbeltisstill
buckled,orthereisasubstituteseatbelt
buckleinserted.
Vehicleswithautomatictransmission:The
driverleavesthevehicle,withtheshiftlever
stillinDriveposition(R/D/S/W/Tiptronic).
Stretchthebodyintotheengine
compartment.
Refuelthevehicle.(Eveniftheenginehas
beenshutdown,thekeymustberemovedfor
refueling.)
UndertheconditionthattheStart-Stopintelligentfuel
savingsystemisenabled,theenginewillbeautomatically
shutdownwhendetectingthefollowingoperationsof
driveraswellasthevehiclestatesafterthevehicleis
