General problems with the dishwasher
Problem Possible cause and solution
The dishwasher does not
respond to any button. The
indicator lights and the dis-
play are dark.
The dishwasher is switched off after 10minutes to save en-
ergy.
 Press the button to switch the dishwasher back on.
The display is dark and the
Start/Stopbutton is flash-
ing.
The dishwasher is switched to standby mode after 10min-
utes to save energy.
 Press any button to exit standby mode.
The following fault mes-
sage appears on the display
before the program starts:
Salt container lid: check fit.
The salt container is not closed properly.
 Close the container properly.
Salt residues are preventing it from closing.
 Remove the salt residues from the refilling funnel, the lid,
and the seal. Do not use running water to rinse away salt
residues as this can cause the container to overflow.
 Close the container properly.
The following fault mes-
sage appears on the dis-
play:
F553 Salt container: Turn ap-
pliance off and on. Close flap
in the door correctly. If fault
persists, contact service.
Service phone: Serial number:
The salt container flap has sprung open during a program.
 When the door is opened, hot steam and process
chemicals can escape!
 Open the door and close the container flap.
The following fault mes-
sage appears on the dis-
play:
Program lock filter
The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet is
not inserted correctly. The program does not start.
 Open the door and insert the entire filter combination
correctly; see “Cleaning and care, Cleaning filters in the
wash cabinet”.
The dispenser cover cannot
be closed.
Detergent residue is blocking the latch.
 Remove the detergent residue.
The inside of the door and/
or the interior walls are wet
after a program has fin-
ished.
This is not a fault.
It is caused by the drying system.
The moisture will dissipate after a short while.
Water remains in the wash
cabinet at the end of the
program.
(This does not apply to the
Rapid program)
Before remedying the fault:
 Turn the dishwasher off with the button.
The filter combination in the wash cabinet is clogged.
 Clean the filter combination (see “Cleaning and care”).
The drain pump or non-return valve is blocked.
 Clean the drain pump or the non-return valve (see “Fre-
quently asked questions”).
The drain hose is kinked.
 Remove any kinks from the drain hose.
The on-site drain siphon is blocked.
 Check and clean the drain siphon.
