Automatic Hold
Principle
Automatic Hold assists the driver by auto-
matically setting and releasing the brake
such as when moving in stop-and-go traffic.
When a gear position is engaged, the vehi-
cle is automatically held in place when it is
stationary.
On uphill grades the system prevents the
vehicle from rolling back when driving off.
General information
The parking brake is applied automatically
by Automatic Hold under the following sit-
uations:
– Drive-ready state is switched off.
– The driver’s door is open for more than
one second and no pedal is pressed dur-
ing this time.
– The moving vehicle is brought to a
standstill using the parking brake.
In selector lever position N, Automatic Hold
is temporarily deactivated.
There are two ways to activate and deacti-
vate Automatic Hold:
– Via the Interaction Unit.
– Using the brake pedal.

windows.
