To remOYe the oil pump, tho oil pan mus! be separate,
from the I:rankc.ase. Before re mov ing the oil pan
l
be Sur e
to drain il complerely. Removing the mounting bolt ( I)
allows the pump (2) to be puUed out of the crankcase.
Reverse lrus sequence of removal to install the oil pump.

The oil pump will not com. off if o il pump
dr iv e sear is firmly meshed with camshaft skew
gear, While giving a pull to Ibe oil pump, tum
over the cranksha ft a Uttle to ease the dr\ve
g.ear from the skew ge~ r.

When in s talling the 011 pump. ex amin e the gasket fo r
t he mountlog bolt. Replac e the gas.ket if it is nicke d or
olh erwise de fective .
O~ pump disassembly
(I) From the pump> remove oil stra in er (2) and pump
cover securing bo lts (1). Sep a rate the co ye r.
1·Bott and w8iher (4 pc:.; ei!lch ) 2·0;1 nnl in er
ReMOving oit strainer
(2) Invert t he pump case and catch outer rotor (3),
which will slide out of the bore by its own wei ght.
