SAFETY OPERATION
NEW POWER UNIT BREAK-IN
The power unit on your machine has been
set up and started in the shop and then was
run during a nal check-out. This amount of
time is not enough for a proper power unit
break-in. Treat the power unit as brand new
and follow the power unit operator's and
maintenance manual for proper break-in pro-
cedures.
All personnel (not just the operator) shall read
this section and understand the operation of
this machine and dangerous areas to avoid.
CAUTION: Remember, this is a dan-
gerous piece of equipment if not
maintained and operated properly.
CLOTHING
Avoid wearing loose clothing, particularly
cuffs and scarves, that can catch on branch-
es and pull you into the chipper. Wear appro-
priate safety equipment at all times.
PRIOR TO STARTING YOUR MA-
CHINE
If not attached to towing vehicle, block
the tongue of the machine.
Never use the adjustable jack as the
sole support when operating the ma-
chine.
Block the wheels.
Check for foreign objects in the chipper
housing, infeed area.
Check all safety devices and controls.
Make sure they are in good working
condition and operating properly before
chipper is put in operation.
Make sure all shields and covers are in
place and secure.
Make sure no one is in the path of ying
wood chips.
It i your responsibility as an operator to
make sure that all bystanders are at a
safe distance from the equipment.
