Selecting a Radio Channel
A channel is a group of radio characteristics, such as transmit/
receive frequency pairs.
Use the following procedure to select a channel.
Note: Your radio must be preprogrammed to allow you to use
this feature. If you select a channel that is not within
the preprogrammed band, the radio indicates that it is
on an unsupported frequency with both audio and
visual warnings.
Consult a qualified radio technician for the right choice
between the following methods.
Procedure:
Rotate the Mode knob until the display shows the desired
channel.
OR
1 Press and hold > to scroll to CHAN and press the Menu
Select button directly below CHAN. The display shows the
current zone and channel.
2 Rotate the Mode knob to the desired channel.
3 Press H or the PTT button to confirm the channel.
Press the PTT button to transmit on the displayed zone
channel.
Using Channel Search Button
This feature allows you to do a quick search for a specific
channel in the radio by key in the alias of the channel. If the
name matches, your radio prompts the first found matched
channel name.
Procedure:
Press the preprogrammed Channel Search button.
OR
Follow the procedure below.
1 > or < to CHSR.
2 Press the Menu Select button directly below CHSR to key in
the channel name.
3 A blinking cursor appears on the Channel Search screen.
Use the keypad to type or edit your message.
Press
< to move one space to the left.
Press
> to move one space to the right.
Press the Menu Select button directly below Del to delete
any unwanted characters.
Press * to add a space.
Press 0 to toggle between mixed case mode, uppercase
mode, and lowercase mode.
Press # to toggle between numeric and letter mode.
