Chapter 4 Troubleshooting
4.1 Power-Up Errors
In the event that there is a setup problem while powering up the system, the system attempts to
notify the user of this problem by displaying a power-up error messages (see Table 4-1). The control
head displays power-up errors occurring in either radio.
If one of the radios is not connected at power-up, an error message is displayed, and the remaining
radio continues to function. If both radios are configured as Primary Radios or both radios are
configured as Auxiliary Radios, a fatal error is displayed and the system will not function. See
Chapter 3, "Codeplug Configuration" for details on codeplug configuration.
Any power-up failure during the self-check routine will cause the associated radio to generate a Bad
Key Tone.
NOTE: In the event that there are errors with encryption on the Unselected Radio, they will not be
displayed on the control head at power-up. Instead, the error will be shown when that radio is
selected and the user presses PTT to transmit. All audible indications of the error will be heard
at power-up regardless of radio selection.
