Receiving Messages
If there is no on-going activity in your MTP850 Ex/MTP810
Ex
, it will enter the Inbox automatically.
Displaying Long Text Messages
In the message view screen, press More to read the next
page, and Back to return to the previous page.
Entering the Messages Sub-menu
From the main menu, select
Messages
.
The sub-menu allows you read text
messages, send text messages, and send
status messages.
Scroll to your selection and press Select to
access the next display.
In DMO text messages are sent on frequency attached to the
current talkgroup. Make sure you selected desired talkgroup
before sending a message. For selecting group details see
“Selecting a Group” on page 40.
You will hear the “New Mail Received” alert tone when a new
message is received while your MTP850 Ex/MTP810 Ex is
engaged in a call (if configured by your Service Provider).
For message alert, see settings in the Tones menu option
(page 118)

If your service provider has enabled the PTT Callback
feature, then pressing PTT will initiate a call to the message
originator. Otherwise, PTT will be directed to the currently
selected talkgroup.
Your MTP850 Ex/MTP810 Ex can receive calls while in the
Messages sub-menu.
