Engine pulley
To remove/replace the engine pulley:
1. Remove the belt by following the procedures
described in the belt section of this chapter.
2. Remove the engine pulley bolt (indicated by the
arrow in
Figure 3.5.) using a 1/2” wrench.
NOTE: The engine pulley is a two-piece pulley.
3. Slide the outer pulley half off of the crankshaft.
NOTE: The key is molded into the pulley half.
See Figure 3.6.
4. Slide the inner pulley half off of the crankshaft.
5. Inspect the keys and the keyway.
NOTE: If a key is damaged, replace that pulley half. If the
keyway is damaged, the engine must be short
blocked.
NOTE: The inboard pulley half and the outboard pulley
half have the same part number.
6. Install the pulley by following the previous steps in
reverse order.
NOTE: Tighten the engine pulley bolt to a torque of 140 -
240 in lbs (16 - 27 Nm).
7. Test run the snow thrower in a safe area before
returning it to service.
