4.3 Starting the engine in manual mode
Preconditions
☑Engine is not under load.
☑External start interlock is not activated.
DANGER
Unguarded rotating and moving engine components.
Risk of serious injury – danger to life!
• Before barring or starting the engine, make sure that nobody is in the danger zone.
WARNING
Engine noise above 85 dB (A).
Risk of damage to hearing!
• Wear ear protectors.
Preparation

Switch to manual mode.
Coolant preheating unit (if
applicable).
Switch ON.
Starting the engine

Switchgear cabinet, opera-
tor station etc. (depending
on manufacturer).
1.
If no coolant preheater is fitted, make sure that the coolant tempera-
ture is > 40 °C.
2.
Press start button.
• Automatic starting procedure is performed;
• Engine speed instrument indicates increasing speed;
• After the starting sequence is completed, engine is running at idle
speed.
