9.5. More about the hardware
9.5.1. Transmitter aerial / storage compartment
The stainless steel telescopic aerial of the C
OCKPIT SX
is 1.40 m long. It must be screwed into the transmitter
socket before the unit is switched on.
To remove the aerial from its compartment press the
release button at the bottom of the transmitter.
To store the aerial, slide it into the hole in the left-hand
side of the case. Press the release knob when fitting
the aerial; when fully inserted the aerial snaps into
place, and cannot fall out again.

9.5.2. Multi-function socket with sliding cover
The multi-function socket of the C
OCKPIT SX is used for
the following purposes:
• Charging / discharging the transmitter battery (max.
1.5 A)
• Connecting the Trainer lead
• Connecting the Diagnosis lead
(cable connection to the receiver)
• PC interface
(e.g. for operating a flight simulator)
The socket is fitted with a sliding latch to protect it from
dirt and damp.

9.5.3. Operating the sliders from above / the side
The two sliders of the C
OCKPIT SX can be operated
from above or the side. This makes the transmitter
ideal for use as a hand-held unit or in a transmitter tray.

9.5.4. Replacing the transmitter battery
The transmitter case must be opened in order to re-
place the transmitter battery (7 screws, i in Fig. 9.3.).
Note: no data loss when the battery is replaced!
The model data in the C
OCKPIT SX is stored in non-
volatile memory. Even if the battery is disconnected for
a long period, the data is retained.
