Why won't my Napoleon TORCH GT8N burner light, even though the ignitor sparks?
    • L
      Laura SalinasSep 4, 2025
If your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace burner won't light even though the ignitor sparks, there could be several reasons. First, confirm that the manual valve is turned on. If it is, the valve may need replacement. Also, if you're using propane, check if the tank is empty and refill it if necessary.

What causes the white or grey film that forms on my Napoleon TORCH GT8N Indoor Fireplace?
    • T
      tylercooperSep 18, 2025
If a white or grey film forms on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, sulphur from the fuel may be depositing. Clean the glass with a gas fireplace glass cleaner, but do not clean the glass when it is hot. Note that if deposits are not cleaned off regularly, the glass may become permanently marked.

Why is the flame length on my Napoleon TORCH GT8N Indoor Fireplace too large or too small?
    • W
      whitestephanieSep 16, 2025
If the flame length of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace is consistently too large or too small and carboning occurs, the unit may be over-fired or under-fired. Check pressure readings - Outlet pressure can be checked by removing cap (A) and replacing it with a 1/8” NPT barb fitting. Next, place pressure gauge tubing over the fitting. Gauge should read 3.5” W.C. for natural gas or 10.0” W.C. for propane. AFTER TAKING PRESSURE READINGS, BE SURE TO REPLACE CAP TO RESEAL. DO NOT OVER-TORQUE. Also, leak test with a soap and water solution.

Why is the flame on my Napoleon TORCH GT8N blue and lazy?
    • S
      Stephanie LeonSep 15, 2025
If the main burner flame of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace is a blue, lazy, transparent flame, there may be a blockage in the vent. Remove the blockage. In extremely cold conditions, ice buildup may occur on the terminal and should be removed as required.

What to do if there is no gas to the main burner of my Napoleon TORCH GT8N?
    • A
      Anna EvansSep 13, 2025
If there's no gas to the main burner of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, even when the switch or thermostat is on, the thermostat or switch may be defective. Connect a jumper wire across the wall switch terminals; if the main burner lights, replace the switch or thermostat. Also, the main burner orifice could be blocked, so remove any stoppage in the orifice. The control valve could also be faulty and may need replacement.

How to fix an ignitor that will not spark on my Napoleon TORCH GT8N Indoor Fireplace?
    • R
      Robert DiazSep 12, 2025
If the ignitor on your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace won't spark, first check the power source (fuse, circuit breaker). Then, ensure the wire is connected to both the ignitor and the control module and that the spark isn't jumping to the ignitor cover. Replace the wire if the insulation is broken or frayed, and replace the electrode if the ceramic insulator is cracked or broken. Also, the spark gap should be 0.125” (1/8” approx.) from the electrode tip to the sensor tip.
  • M
    Michael KhanSep 9, 2025
Why does my Napoleon TORCH GT8N shut down after the electrode sparks and the burner ignites?
    • B
      Brian MurraySep 9, 2025
If the electrode sparks, the burner ignites, but the electrode continues to spark for the complete 7 seconds and then the burner shuts down on your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, the hot and neutral wires might be reversed at the control module. Connect the hot wire to the black wire and the neutral wire to the white wire.
  • A
    Amanda HernandezSep 7, 2025
Why does my Napoleon Indoor Fireplace burner come on when the remote wall switch is in the “OFF” position?
    • A
      Amanda RodriguezSep 7, 2025
If your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace remote wall switch is in the “OFF” position but the burner comes on, the wall switch might be mounted upside down; if so, reverse it. Alternatively, the remote wall switch or its wire may be grounding, in which case you should replace the switch or check for a ground (short) and repair or replace the wire. A faulty wire could also be the cause, so consider replacing it.

Why is carbon depositing on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of my Napoleon TORCH GT8N Indoor Fireplace?
    • G
      gmillsSep 6, 2025
If carbon is being deposited on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, the air shutter may be blocked. Ensure the air shutter opening is free of lint or other obstructions. Also, if the flame is hitting the combustion chamber, open the air shutter to increase primary air, check the manifold pressure and orifice size against the rating plate, ensure the door gasketing is intact and sealed tightly, check for holes in the 3” and 5” vent liners and ensure they're well-sealed, and verify the minimum rise per foot for any horizontal venting.

Why is carbon depositing on the glass of my Napoleon TORCH GT8N Indoor Fireplace?
    • P
      Patricia MorganAug 21, 2025
Carbon deposits occur due to a blocked air shutter or the flame impinging on the combustion chamber. Ensure the air shutter opening is free of lint or obstructions. If the flame is impinging, open the air shutter to increase primary air. Also, check the input rate, manifold pressure, orifice size, door gasketing, vent liners, and minimum rise per foot for horizontal venting.
