Term Definition
DTMF
Dual Tone Multi-frequency signaling is used for telephone
signaling over the line, in the voice-frequency band, to the call
switching center.
Ethernet
Ethernet is a family of frame-based computer networking
technologies for local area networks (LANs). It defines a
number of wiring and signaling standards for the physical layer,
through means of network access at the Media Access Control
(MAC)/Data Link Layer and a common addressing format.
FTP
FTP or File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer data from one
computer to another over the Internet, or through a network.
Gateway
Gateway (computer networking), a node that serves as an
entrance to another network and vice versa.
Internet
The global digital network.
Intranet
A private digital network.
LDAP
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol or LDAP is an
application protocol for querying and modifying directory
services running over TCP/IP. A directory is a set of objects with
similar attributes organized in a logical and hierarchical manner.
MAC Address
A worldwide unique physical address required for all equipment
on the internet.
MDIX
Medium Dependent Interface Crossover
NTP
Network Time Protocol is a protocol for synchronizing the clocks
of computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency
data networks.s
