6-5 Grounding the motor
•
Install the motor to a grounded metal plate.
•
Wires used to ground the motor and the driver must be as thick and short as possible so that no potential
dierence is generated between the grounding points.
•
Choose a large, thick and uniformly conductive surface for the grounding point.
Static electricity may cause damage to the products if they are not grounded.
6-6 Grounding the driver
Ground the FG terminal of the main power supply connector. Install the driver to a metal surface that has grounded.
Do not share the grounding wire with a welder or any other power equipment.

6-7 Connecting the USB cable
Connect the USB cable to the USB connector when using the support software.
Specications of USB cable
Specication USB2.0 (full speed)
Cable
Length: 3 m (9.8 ft.) or less
Shape: A to micro B
•
Connect the driver and PC directly with the USB cable without using a hub or an extension cable.
•
In large electrically noisy environments, use the USB cable with a ferrite core or install a ferrite core to the USB
cable.
•
The driver’s USB connector is not electrically insulated. When grounding the positive terminal of the power
supply, do not connect any equipment (PC, etc.) whose negative terminal is grounded. Doing so may cause the
driver and these equipment to short, damaging both.
