3) Open the tie that holds the battery in place.
Note the orientation of the battery and connector
as you disconnect and remove the old battery.
The connecting wire for the new battery (Fig. 97)
should feed from the front of the battery compart-
ment, across the top edge of the battery pack
(the edge closest to the top of the instrument),
then toward the back of the compartment. Close
the tie around the new battery.
4) Reverse Steps 2 and 3 to replace the hatch.
5) Connect the Detective-EX to external power.
(Remember that the cooler cannot be restarted
from the internal battery.)
6) Restart the Detective-EX, turn on the cooler, and
wait for the instrument status to change to
Ready
.
7) Return the old battery to ORTEC for recycling.
