DEPTH
OF
FIELD
Depth
of
field
refers
to
the
ran^e
around
the
optimum
focusing
point
of
the
subject
in
which
the
elements
at
different
distances
are
in
focus.
--Depth
of
field
*
The
depth
of
field
increases
as
the
aperture
becomes
smaller,
as
the
focal
length
of
the
lens
becomes
shorter,
and
as
the
subject
is
positioned
farther
away.
By
changing
apertures,
you
can
control
the
depth
of
field
and
create
different
visual
effects.
As
illustrated
in
the
examples
at
right
(using
f/1.4
and
f/22
settings),
the
in-focus
range
can
be
confirmed
by
the
depth-of'field
scale
on
the
lens.
*
Some
zoom
lenses
do
not
have
a
depth-of-field
scale
due
to
mechanical
reasons.
