Intentional leakage “Known,” quantifiable leakage that is a function of the
mask.
IPAP Inspiratory positive airway pressure. A control setting. The application and
maintenance of pressure above atmospheric at the airway throughout the
inspiration phase of positive-pressure mechanical ventilation.
ISO International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies.
I-Time Inspiratory time. The duration of inspiration during mechanical
ventilation.
L Liter.
LCD Liquid crystal display.
LED Light-emitting diode.
Limit To prevent from exceeding a specified maximum value during a breath.
LIP Low Inspiratory Pressure Alarm, an alarm setting.
