6.2 Network

6.2.1 Mode Buttons
TotheleftoftheNetworktab’smainscreenyoucannd3buttons:
Off,WiandEthernet.Whensettooff,thenetworkingcapabilities
oftheIS16willbeessentiallydisabled.UserscanselectWior
Ethernetwhenwantingtouseeitheroftheseprotocols.WhenWi
isselectedtheUSBWi donglemustbeconnectedtotheWi
port on the rear of the IS16.
6.2.2 DHCP Server / Client
WhenyourlocalnetworkrunsoffaDHCPprotocol,thenetwork
will automatically assign your IS16 an IP address. If your network
runsoffaDHCPserver,youcanturnitonhere.
6.2.3 IP Address
WhennotusingaDHCPserver,youcanenteranIPaddressfor
your IS16 here.
6.2.4 Net Mask
ThesubnetmaskforyourIS16canbeenteredintothiseld.For
mostnetworks–andparticularlyifyou’reunsurewhatitis–this
shouldbekeptsetas“255.255.255.0”.
6.2.5 Gateway
A gateway is a device that can connect other devices in a network
thatusedifferenttypesofprotocols.Thisistypicallyyourrouter,
but a computer could also serve as a gateway.
6.2.6 SSID
SSIDstandsforServiceSetIdentier.Thisisessentiallythename
of your mixer as it relates to your IEEE 802.11 wireless local area
network(WLAN)andmustbeenteredfortheIS16toconnectto
yournetwork.(SSID:PHONIC-IS16).
6.2.7 Authentication
Users can select the kind of authentication used by their wireless
router, whetherit’sWPA2 orWEP. By settingauthentication to
“Open”onyourrouteryouareessentiallyopeningyournetwork
up to anybody with a Wi device. Phonic recommends setting
your router to one of the available authentication types to ensure
your privacy.
6.2.8 Encryption
Select the encryption mode when open or shared authentication
is selected. The encryption is selectable between 64 and 128 bit.
6.2.9 Key
Enterthesecuritykeyforyourwirelessnetworkhere.Withoutthis,
the IS16 will not be able to connect to the wireless network. The
default key is 87654321.
WhenconnectingdirectlytotheIS16throughthewiconnection
youwillbepromptedtoenterthekeyasyourwipassword.
6.2.10 Password
Enter a password for your IS16 here. This will ensure that anybody
within the general area of your wireless area cannot make
unauthorizedadjustmentstoyourIS16’sproperties.Passwords
are case-sensitive. The default password is phonic.
