Basic
operation

Tapes
used
for
playback
may
be
either
Type

(normal),
Type
Il
(High/CrO2),
or
Type
IV
(Metal).

Tapes
may
be
played
back
in
TAPE

or
TAPE
II
but
not
in
both
decks
at
the
same
time.

load
a
recorded
tape,
then
push
in
the
cassette
door
until
it
locks.
For
relay
playback,
load
tapes
into
TAPE

and
TAPE
Il.
Relay
playback
is
repeated
as
follows

If
there
is
a
tape
in

one
deck,

NR
to
the
same
position
used
for
recording.
Tapes
recorded
using
Dolby
noise
reduction
should
always
be
played
back
with
the
noise
reduction
system
on.

If
tapes
are
loaded
in
both
deck

and
Il,
press
the
TAPE
I/l
(Function)
button
to
select
the
tape
to
be
played
back
first.
When
atape
is
loaded,
the
loaded
deck
will
automatically
be
selected.
Each
press
of
the
button
alternates
TAPE
|
and
TAPE
II
as
shown
below:

NOTES:
Performing
music
search
on
the
following
types
of
tape
may
not
be
possible.
This
is
not
a
unit
malfunction,
however.

tape
whose
unrecorded
portions
between
tracks
are
less
than
4
seconds
long.
eA
tape
with
high
noise
level
between
tracks.
eA
tape
with
low
level
or
silent
passages
of
several
seconds
in
the
same
track,
such
as
classical
music.

When
the
tape’s
sound
is
broken
irregularly,
as
in
recordings
of
speeches
or
dialogue.
e
When
a
track
is
less
than
30
seconds
in
length.
@
When
a
tape
has
sound
which
continues
at
very
lov
volume
for
more
than
4
seconds.
NOTES:
e
Do
not
press
the
Eject
(&)
button
while
the
tape
is
Lanning.
e
Confirm
that
the
deck
has
stopped
before
pressingthe
Eject
(&)
button.
Auto
Stop
Mechanism
This
mechanism
automatically
stops
the
tape
when
th
e
end
of
the
tape
is
reached
during
fast
forward
or
rewind
(
C=)
or
G3).
