a
tape
for
recording
into
deck

the
tape
past
its
leader
portion
so
that
the
magnetic
surface
is
exposed.
Recording
cannot
be
performed
on
a
tape
if
the
accidental
erasure
prevention
tab
has
been
broken
out.
elnsert
the
tape
for
recording
and
close
the
cassette
door
with
your
hand.
2.
Use
the
DOLBY
NR
ON/OFF
button
to
select
the
desired
noise
reduction
mode.
e@Each
time
the
button
is
pressed,
the
mode
changes
in
the
following
order:

Press
the
START
button,
switch
to
the
tape
direction
you
want
to
record
in,
and
press
the
STOP
button.

Recording
on

followed
by
recording
on

B.
When
recording
on
side
A
(m),
has
finished,
recording

automatically
starts.

Recording
on
one
side.
Recording
is
performed
in
the
reverse
(4)
direction,
so
be
sure
to
load
the
tape
accordingly.
4.
Use
the
Function
button
to
select
the
input
source.
eFor
tape
copying
(recording
from
deck
|
to
deck
II),
use
the
tape
copy
function.
5.
Press
the
REC/STOP
button
(@/m).
Recording
starts,
and
the
“REC”
indicator
lights.
To
cancel,
press
the
REC/STOP
button
(@/™)
or
the
TAPE
II
stop
button
(™)
on
the
remote
control.
NOTES:
e
You
cannot
switch
inputs
during
recording.
@
This
unit
uses
ALC
(Auto
Level
Control)
to
automatically
set
recording
level.
eDuring
recording,
Sound
Field
Control
and
P.Bass
do
not
function.
Also,
Dolby
surround
sound
will
not
function
on
XR-
P970F
either.
The
SFC/KARAOKE
button
does
not
operate
during
recording
either.
Copying
a
tape
The
contents
of
the
tape
in
TAPE
|
can
be
copied
onto
the
tape
in
TAPE
Il.
Tape
copying
should
begin
in
the
forward
direction
(>).
1.
Press
the
TAPE
(I/II)
function
button
of
the
main
unit
to
select
the
cassette
tape
input
function.
On
the
remote
control
unit,
select
the
cassette
deck
input
with
the
Function
button.
2.
Load
the
recorded
tape
into
TAPE
|
and
the
tape
for
recording
into
TAPE
Il.
eWind
the
tape
forward
past
the
leader
to
the
start
of
the
magnetic
coated
portion.
eThe
tape
copy
mode
is
canceled
when
the
end
of
either
of
the
tapes
is
reached,
so
it
is
advisable
to
use
tapes
of
the
same
length.
3.
Press
the
COPY
button.
"COPY"
is
displayed.
4.
Press
the
START
button.
The
tape
copy
starts.
To
stop
copying:
Press
the
Stop
button
@.
(On
the
remote
control
unit,
press
the
TAPE
!
or
TAPE
Il
stop
(m)
button.)
Both
decks
will
stop
simultaneously.
e
Regardless
of
the
Dolby
NR
setup,
the
tape
created
by
copying
has
exactly
the
same
contents
as
the
copy
source
tape.
