Procedure 7.8 - Replacing the Speed Sensor
(C846 version 1 only)
1. Set the on/off switch in the off position.
2. Remove the right hand cover per Procedure 7.1.

3. Disconnect the speed sensor connector (J3) from the lower PCA.
4. Cut the cable ties that fasten the speed sensor wiring to the wire harness. Loosen the
screws that retain the speed sensor mounting bracket and slide the speed sensor (reed
switch) out of it’s mounting bracket.
5. Rotate the secondary pulley so that the magnet is next to the speed sensor mounting
position.
6. Slide the speed sensor into it’s mounting bracket and set the distance between the end of
the speed sensor and the surface of the magnet to 1/8 inch, tighten the speed sensor
mounting bracket screws.
7. Dress the speed sensor wiring into the cable harness and replace the cable ties removed in
step 4, reconnect the speed sensor connector to the lower PCA.
8. Test the operation of the cycle per Section 4. Be sure that the RPM display is consistent and
accurate.
9. Replace the cover per Procedure 7.1.
