What to do if my ProFire Controller system has a visible flame but cannot detect it?
    • G
      geraldmcconnellAug 20, 2025
If your ProFire Controller system shows a visible flame but doesn't detect it, ensure the flame rod, pilot assembly, and the gap between them are fully engulfed in flame; adjust the rod positioning if needed. Also, check that the flame detection wiring doesn't exceed the recommended maximum length and that the Ion+ wire is securely connected as per the wiring diagram. Verify the ground connection between the PF2100 and the pilot assembly is secure. You can also put the PF2100 into Manual Mode and use the Review Menu to check the flame quality level.

Why does my ProFire PF2100 Controller system shut down with a high/low voltage message?
    • F
      Frank WagnerAug 22, 2025
A high/low voltage message shutdown on your ProFire Controller system can occur if the system voltage setting doesn't match the power supply’s nominal voltage. Ensure these settings align. Also, make sure that some other load is not causing the supply to drop periodically by removing other devices from the supply or monitoring the supply voltage with a data logger. Verify the power supply is appropriately rated for the valves and other peripheral devices attached to the PF2100. It is also recommended to check that the system has the latest firmware. Firmware older than v1.8.005 was prone to shutdown on transient voltage spikes and dips.

What to do if my ProFire PF2100 system shuts down on an Open TC Error?
    • K
      Katie ChavezAug 25, 2025
If your ProFire Controller system shuts down due to an Open TC Error, check the thermocouple connections inside the PF2100, noting that both the Process and High Temp thermocouples are required. Also, inspect the thermocouple wiring for any breaks.

How to fix incorrect thermocouple readings on ProFire PF2100?
    • J
      Jeremy RodriguezAug 27, 2025
To correct incorrect thermocouple readings on your ProFire Controller, verify the thermocouple wiring polarity: yellow should connect to positive, and red to negative. Ensure no thermocouple pairs are crossed, and use only Type-k thermocouple wire and connectors. If a head connection is used, check for wiring issues there as well. Try a different thermocouple that is known to be good or by connecting the suspect thermocouple to a process calibrator. Finally, check that the PF2100 is in proper calibration using a process calibrator. If not, recalibrate the system.

What to do if my ProFire PF2100 Controller valves are not opening?
    • M
      Michael MasonAug 28, 2025
If the valves on your ProFire Controller are not opening, check if the positive and negative wires are reversed. Also, make sure each valve has a separate negative return wire connected to the correct terminal, as a common ground wire cannot be used. Verify the proper PWM setting is used for each valve, and ensure the valve voltage ratings match the system voltage (12V or 24V).

Why is the expected battery life not achieved in ProFire Controller?
    • V
      Vanessa EricksonAug 30, 2025
If the expected battery life is not achieved with your ProFire Controller, it may be because the PF2100 is not set up by default to use low power valves with a PWM setting of 20%. Also, the PF2100 might not be set up to put the display to sleep when not in use. The solar panel could be undersized, shaded, or not located in full sun.

What to do if my ProFire PF2100 Controller system shuts down due to high temperature ESD?
    • B
      brittany00Aug 31, 2025
If your ProFire Controller system shuts down due to high temperature ESD, check that the HT ESD setpoint is not set too close to the operating temperature of the system. Measurement accuracy and process control overshoot can cause the system to shutdown if they are too close.

Why is my ProFire PF2100 Controller battery not being charged at all?
    • J
      Jason TranSep 2, 2025
If the battery in your ProFire Controller is not being charged, check the Solar Charger for damage or defective parts and look for flashing error codes on the controller’s LEDs. Other possible causes include an undersized solar panel, a solar panel that is shaded or not located in full sun, or a defective battery.

What to do if ProFire PF2100 system shuts down with Terminal Card Command Refused, Master Power, Solenoid Feedback?
    • K
      Kevin RodriguezSep 4, 2025
If your ProFire Controller system shuts down with a Terminal Card Command Refused, Master Power, Solenoid Feedback error, check the solenoid wiring to make sure that no wires are crossed and that separate return wires are used for each valve.

How to troubleshoot bouncing thermocouple readings on ProFire PF2100?
    • B
      Brenda OrtizSep 6, 2025
To troubleshoot bouncing thermocouple readings on your ProFire Controller, verify that the Valve PWM Settings are correct for the valves being used. The lowest noise will result when the PWM setting is set to 20% for low power valves and 100% for regular valves. Also, verify that proper system grounding is in place, especially ensuring that all solenoids are connected to earth ground.
