Warning:Always label the contents of cleaning buckets.
Danger: Use suitable personal protecve equipment (PPE) at all mes to avoid physical
contact with calcium hypochlorite liquid or vapor. Failure to do so may result in death
or serious injury. Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet for addional informaon and
precauons regarding the proper handling of calcium hypochlorite.
1. Put on the appropriate PPE: long sleeved clothing, rubber gloves, apron, and safety glasses.
2. Allow the hopper to run low enough so all remaining Pulsar® Plus Briquees in the hopper t inside the basket.
3. Add water to two 5-gallon buckets unl each bucket is approximately 3/4 full.Prepare the soak bucket:
a. Carefully add 12 oz of muriac acid to one of the 5-gallon buckets to create a roughly 1% soluon of 20 Baume muriac acid.
Warning:Always be careful when adding muriac acid to water; this combinaon creates an
exothermic reacon, which gives o heat. Failure to take care may result in serious
injury.
b. Label this bucket "ACID" and set it aside so that it will not be knocked over.
4. Label the remaining bucket "FRESH WATER" and set it aside.
5. Close the feeder inlet and outlet 1/2” ball valves.
6. Turn o the control box master power switch.
7. Use basket removal tool to remove the used grid basket from the chlorinator. If necessary, use a at head screw driver to pry and jostle the
basket to break scaling.
8. Inspect the HCE Bowl 45° cut drain pipe and, If necessary, break o excess scale or remove the drain pipe completely and replace with a
clean spare pipe (you may have to move the wash nozzle out of the way to remove the pipe).
a. Place “dirty” drain pipe in the acid soluon to clean for future use.
9. Pour any remaining Pulsar® Plus Briquees into the replacement basket and install the basket and chemical into chlorinator.
10. Place the used basket into the FRESH WATER bucket.
11. Slowly open the inlet manifold ball valve.
12. Turn on the control box master power switch.
13. Shake the used basket up and down in the FRESH WATER bucket to remove loose residue.
14. Transfer the used basket to the acid bucket and let it soak for 24 hours.
