Note: Entering the FIX-UP mode is optional only by connecting the Alteon via the console and
not via Telnet or SSH.
2. When you are asked to type the password, type: forgetme!
3. After entering the password, the machine mode will change to PASSWORD FIX-UP MODE.
4. When prompted, type the new administrator password.
Save the setup modification using the Save command.
Recovery for Alteon Application Switches 4408, 4416,
5224, 5224 XL, 5412, and 5412 XL
You can use the process described in this section to salvage an Alteon Application Switch that failed
during system boot. Before starting this procedure, contact Radware Technical Support to validate
that this is the only rescue-measure option.
Note: The following procedure is currently supported only using Windows.
Prerequisites:
• The relevant, valid, system licenses for the installed device. For more information, see Licensing
Mechanism, page 66.
• A supported USB mass storage device.
Radware has verified that the following devices are compatible with the Alteon Application
Switch:
— Apacer Handy Steno AH223 2 GB and 4 GB
— Kingston DataTraveller 512-MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB
— For Alteon Application Switch 5412, PQI Intelligent Drive i810 Plus 2 GB and 4 GB
— SanDisk 2 GB
• The USB must be first in the boot sequence (as defined in the BIOS). The USB is, by default,
first in the boot sequence.
Note: When you insert a USB mass storage device into the Alteon Application Switch when
the system is running, the recovery process starts automatically at the subsequent
reboot.
• A valid recovery TAR file for the relevant version of your product.
