1Locationrequirements
Theguidelinesbelowshouldbefollowedwhenselectingalocationforthe
transducer.
Note:
Optimumtransducerlocationwillvarydependingonvesseltype
.Optimum
transducerheightandangleshouldbeobtainedbytestingthetransducer
withthevesselinthewater.
•ThetransducerisNO Tsuitableformountingonvesselswherethetransom
isaftofthepropeller(s).
•T oobtainthebestlocationforyourtransducer,observethetransomwhilst
underway.Installinanareaawayfromwakecausedbythepropeller(s)
andwheretheleastamountofturbulenceandaerationoccurs.
•T urbulencecanbecausedbychines(1),skegs(2),strakes,(3),outletsand
exhausts(4),rowsofrivets(5)steps(6)andribs(7).DoNOTinstallyour
transduceraftoftheselocationsorinareasofturbulencecreatedbythem.
Note:Theillustrationaboveprovidespotentialtransducerlocationsfor
thehulltypesdepicted.Beforeselectingalocationensurethatallof
thelocationrequirementshavebeenmet.
•Thetransducershouldbemountedasclosetothecenterlineofthevessel
aspossible,ensuringthat:
–ifthecenterlinehasachine(ispointed)thetransducerisoffset.
–thetransducerremainssubmergedwhenplaningandturning.
–thetransducerisasufficientdistancefromthepropeller(s).
•Thetransducershouldbemountedaminimumof380mm(15in)awayfrom
thepropeller(s).Forclockwiserotatingpropellers,mountthetransducer
onthestarboardside,forcounter-clockwise,mountontheportside.On
atwinenginevesselmountthetransducerclosetothecenterlineorjust
offsetfromthecenterline.
•Thetransducershouldbepositionedsothatthebottomhalfofthe
transducerislowerthanthelowestpointofthehullinthevicinityofthe
transducer.Inthefollowingillustrations,thedashedlineindicatesthe
lowestpointofthehullinthevicinityofthetransducer.
