Vision™overview
SideVision™interpretssignalsfromapairofside-lookingtransducersandbuildsupadetailed
underwaterviewasyourvesselmovesforward.Thetransducerssendpulsesofsoundwavesinto
thewateroneachsideofyourvessel,andrecordthesoundwavesthatreflectoffthebottom,andoff
objectsonthebottomorsuspendedinthewatercolumn.Thereceivedechoesareaffectedbythe
bottommaterial(forexamplemud,gravelorrock),andbyanyotherobjectsintheirpath(forexample
cablesontheseafloor,bridgepiers,wrecks,shoalsorfish).
SideVision™produces2wide-angleside-to-sidebeams,eachwithathinfore-to-aftbeam.The
coverageoftheSideVision™beamsisaswathoneachsideofthevessel.
SideVision™beams
Side Vision™iseffectiveatlowervesselspeeds.Thewide,thinbeamsproducecleartargetreturns.
Asyourvesselmovesforward,subsequentreturnsbuilduptoprovideanimageoftheseafloor
oneachsideofyourvessel.
TheuseofCHIRPprocessingandahighoperatingfrequencyprovideadetailedimage,makingit
easiertoidentifybottomstructuresaroundwhichfishmayreside.Thenarrowanglethebeamsmake
withthebottomatlongerrangescanrevealtheshadowsofstructuresthatprotrudefromthebottom.
