thefollowingadvice:
Thepowercableforeachunitinyoursystemshouldberunasaseparate,singlelengthof2-wire
cablefromtheunittothevessel'sbatteryordistributionpanel.
Forpowercableextensions,aminimumwiregaugeof16AWG(1.31mm

)isrecommended.For
cablerunslongerthan15meters,youmayneedtoconsiderathickerwiregauge(e.g.14AWG
(2.08mm

),or12AWG(3.31mm

)).
Animportantrequirementforalllengthsofpowercable(includinganyextension)istoensure
thatthereisacontinuousminimumvoltageof10.8Vattheproduct’spowerconnector,witha
fullyflatbatteryat11V.
Important:Beawarethatsomeproductsinyoursystem(suchassonarmodules)cancreatevoltage
peak satcertaintimes,whichmayimpactthevoltageavailabletootherproductsduringthepeaks.

Thepowercablesuppliedwiththisproductincludesadedicatedshield(drain)wireforconnectionto
avessel'sRFgroundpoint.
ItisimportantthataneffectiveRFgroundisconnectedtothesystem.Asinglegroundpointshould
beusedforallequipment.Theunitcanbegroundedbyconnectingtheshield(drain)wireofthe
powercabletothevessel'sRFgroundpoint.OnvesselswithoutanRFgroundsystemtheshield
(drain)wireshouldbeconnecteddirectlytothenegativebatteryterminal.
Thedcpowersystemshouldbeeither:
Negativegrounded,withthenegativebatteryterminalconnectedtothevessel'sground.
Floating,withneitherbatteryterminalconnectedtothevessel'sground
