To lock: remove the key and turn the

"On" position M
With the ignition on, the engine will be
preheating.
"Start" position D
Iftheenginefailstostartatthefirstat
tempt,turnthekeybackbeforeactivat
ing the starter again. Release the key
assoonastheenginestartsor,de
pending on the vehicle, when the
"READY" message is displayed on the
instrument panel.
Note: after turning the key, it may take
a few seconds for the engine to be
pre-heated before it starts.
Special note on vehicles with an
automatic gearbox
Press the brake pedal with the lever in
N position.
Note: if a gear other than neutral is
displayed, it flashes; starting is not
possible unless you press the brake
pedalwhileholdingthekeyinthestart
ing position.
Inthe"On"position,asys
tem may automatically
switchoffyourvehicle’sac
cessories,dependingonthebat
tery charge level, to prevent it
from discharging completely.
Stop and Start function
This system enables a reduced fuel
consumption and lower greenhouse
gas emissions.
The system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
Whiledriving,thesystemstopstheen
gine (standby) when the vehicle is at a
standstill (traffic jam, traffic lights, etc).
Therearwheeldrivever
sions are not equipped with
the"StopandStart"func
tion.
Conditions for engine standby
The vehicle has set off from where it
was parked;
For vehicles equipped with automat
ic gearboxes:
– the gearbox is in D or Nposition;
and
– thebrakepedalispressed(suffi
ciently hard);
and
– the accelerator pedal is not pressed;
and
– thespeediszeroforaround1sec
ond.
The engine remains on standby if N
position is engaged with the parking
brakeappliedandthebrakepedalre
leased.
