Automatic regeneration
To do this, when the warning
lightisdisplayed,continuedrivingac
cordingtotrafficconditionsandob
serve the speed limit until the warning
lights disappears. If possible, do not let
the engine speed drop below 2,000
rpm.
The warning light should go out after
approximately 10 to 20 minutes 🡺139.
To facilitate the automatic
particle filter regeneration,
carry out a long driving
phase (at least 20 minutes) on
main roads every 124 miles (200
km).
The display of the warning light
ontheinstrumentpanelmaybeac
companied by an increase in engine
speed and operation of the cooling
systeminordertocleantheparticlefil
ter.
Note: the warning light may reappear
if the driving conditions are not fully
met with regard to cleaning the filter. If
the vehicle is stopped or the engine
speed is below approximately 2,000
rpmbeforethewarninglightdisap
pears then you may have to restart the
operation.
Manual regeneration
(depending on the vehicle)
If it is not possible to comply with the
conditions (driving time required, etc.),
the warning light displayed on
theinstrumentpanelcomeson,ac
companiedbythemessage"Regener
atetheparticlefilter"toindicatethat
thesaturationlevelistoohighforauto
matic regeneration.
Youmustquicklycarryoutmanualre
generation to avoid saturation of the
particle filter which may require you to
consult an approved dealer.
Manualregenerationoftheparticlefil
terleadstohightemperatureintheex
haustsystemandexhaustgases.Pre
cautions must be taken into account
duringtheprocesswhichlastsforap
proximately 40 minutes.
To do this, when the warning light
comes on, accompanied by the
message"Regeneratetheparticlefil
ter":
– park your vehicle off the road, away
from traffic and in a place where it is at
least three metres from any obstacles
or material which could easily ignite or
melt(e.g.paper,grass,plastic,dryor
ganic material, etc.);
– apply the parking brake;
– Setthegearlevertoneutral(posi
tion N on vehicles with an automatic
gearbox).
