Grain colour Causes Solutions
Green/amber Dryer functioning correctly. No action required.
Yellow Initial state. Allow a minimum of 10 minutes from start of air
ow for the dew point indicator to turn green.
Water ow into membrane dryer. Check and replace lters if necessary.
Check condition of inlet air for excess oil or
water.
Ensure outlet of purge air port is free of
obstructions.
Lower input air temperature. Install in-line air
coolers if necessary.
Brown/black Membrane contaminated / oil carryover. Check condition of inlet air for excess oil or
water.
Replace membrane and dew point indicator.

Removal and replacement of membrane dryer module
Regularly inspect the dew point indicator (B) on the membrane dryer (C). The membrane dryer should be
replaced according to the table below or at least once every four years.
