9 - STEERING SYSTEMS 286
9.3.3 HydraulicsystemforthrusterandStabilizingns
It is an independent system that works by means of a hydraulic pump, which
sucks oil from a special tank and then conveys it to a distributor.
Four lines branch off from the distributor: one that feeds the bow thruster,
one to the stern thruster (opt), one that feeds the left stabilizing n and one
that feeds the starboard stabilizing n.
The hydraulic tank is connected to a heat exchanger that uses sea water to
cool the oil so as to keep its temperature constant, a pressure gauge to keep
the pressure under control and a visual level indicator.
