Chapter 3 Mechanical and Electrical Installation
Remove or Install Protective Touch Guards
You must remove the protective touch guards to access other components
inside a bay. This section covers the removal procedure, and installation
procedure for touch guards.
Use the following procedure to remove a protective touch guard in a
configured bay.
1. Review the Product Advisories on page 11
.
2. Open the bay door.
3. Loosen the M5.5 screws that secure the touch guards. It is not necessary
to remove these screws, they can just be loosened. See Figure 45
and
Example Touch Guard Locations.
4. Remove the touch guard from the bay.

Use the following procedure to install a protective touch guard in a configured
bay.
1. Open the bay door.
2. Position the touch guard on the M5.5 screws that secure the touch guard.

3. Tighten the screws to the torque listed in Figure 46 on page 50
.

The locations of touch guards vary for different bays. For some example
locations, see Figure 46 on page 50
, which shows the touch guard locations in
the frame 9 configured input bay with input fuses and top entry.
ATTENTION: Hazard of personal injury or equipment damage exists when
protective touch guards are removed. Guards help to protect against
accidental contact with exposed electrical connections and components.
Guards can also provide electrical insulation between components. Remove
guards only when access is required. Replace guards promptly. Never operate
PowerFlex 755T Drives Configured to Order Program products without all
guards in place.
