Chapter 2 Prepare for Installation
Structural Steel System
Bays can be mounted on top of structural steel that is anchored to concrete and
meets the following specifications and minimum dimensions.
Material: ASTM A-36 / ASME SA36, or equivalent

To find the total height of a bay and its mounting hardware, add the mounting
hardware height (d) to the bay height stated in Approximate Dimensions on
page 29. Consider the height of the mounting hardware for Overhead
Clearance on page 37. To allow for service cart access, the mounting hardware
must be no more than 254 mm(10 in.) tall.

(1) The minimum length of beam under each corner of the bay. Using the minimum length of beam provides a block shaped
base under each corner. Alternatively, you can use two beams running parallel, each spanning from one corner to
another.
