The smoke detector monitors a room for smoke development
using the photoelectric scattered light principle. This means that
the light signal does not reach the receiver directly, but only
when it is scattered, i.e. deflected, by smoke. Early detection
of an incipient fire is therefore possible, enabling a warning of
dangerous smoke gases to be given at an early stage.
The detector raises the alarm by means of an integrated siren, a
red signal LED which operates in parallel, and a white LED. The
white LED provides emergency lighting if the power fails.
At the same time, the smoke detector sends a smoke alarm signal
remotely to all SmartHome smoke detectors of the same type
that are within wireless range and are registered with the same
central control unit.
This enables the occupants to react in good time to a fire which
still may be a long way away, perhaps on a different floor of the
house.
The smoke detector can be combined with other smoke detectors
of the same type to create a system comprising any number of
smoke detectors.
