8.7 Checking the operation of the smoke detector
Once the RWE SmartHome smoke detector has been installed,
you must make sure that it functions properly (see also Section 9.
Regular checks).
8.7.1 Triggering a single-device alarm
An alarm is triggered if smoke penetrates the smoke chamber.
This is signalled with acoustic and visual signals (red LED in the
test button) once a second on the smoke detector. The alarm will
continue as long as the smoke chamber still contains smoke.
The alarm will stop automatically after 48 seconds if no more
smoke is detected in the smoke chamber.
8.7.2 Switching off a single-device alarm
To switch off the acoustic alarm, press the test button of the
smoke detector to its pressure point and hold it for approximate-
ly 2 seconds. If the smoke chamber still contains smoke at this
point, the signal LED in the test button will continue to flash.
If the smoke chamber no longer contains any smoke, you can
completely switch off the alarm by pressing the test button.
