7 Installation location
7.1 Distribution throughout the building
We always recommend that you install several smoke detectors
around your building or apartment.
As an absolute minimum, at least one smoke detector should be
installed on each floor of a multi-storey building. This is the only
way to ensure that a timely – and therefore effective – warning is
raised in the event of a fire.
7.2 Securing escape routes
At least one of the smoke detectors or the single smoke detector
must be installed in such a way that it:
• Safeguards the path to the bedroom (corridor or staircase)
• Can be heard through the closed bedroom door in the event
of an alarm
