9-3. Connecting the Drain Hose
◇ Drain System
Drain capability More than 15 liters per minutes
Pressure No backflow pressure
Location Lower than the drain port of the instrument
Requirements a. The drain system is free from backflow pressure, such as a sink and
drainage
b. The drain system does not affect environment and human health
even if a staining reagent flows into the system.
◇ Standard Accessories for drain hose connection
Drain hose unit
Spiral wire band
L-shaped joint
Hose clamp
◇ How to connect the drain hose
(1) Put one end of the drain hose through the spiral wire band. Insert the L-shaped joint into the
hose mouth. Fasten the L-shaped joint to the hose by tightening the screw of the wire band.
(2) Put the L-shaped joint through the hose clamp and connect it to the drain port located at the
rear bottom of the instrument.
(3) Tighten the hose clamp to fasten the L-shaped joint.
(4) Route the other end of the drain hose to the drain system (a sink or drainage).
* The end of the drain hose should be at least 100mm or higher from the bottom of a sink.
* When routing the drain hose, be careful to ensure that the entire length of the hose is lower
than the drain port.
9-4. Connecting the Instrument to a Ventilation System
As reagents in the instrument generate volatile gasses, the instrument must be installed in a place
providing a ventilation system, a local exhaust system or an exhaust port to discharge treated air to
the outdoors.
In addition, based on a maximum gas concentration estimated from the referential maximum
discharge amount and a cubic capacity of the installation place, check if the ventilation system in the
installation place has a ventilation rate that meets the workplace environmental exposure level
required.
It is desired to install the instrument near a ventilation system. If it is not possible, use a 38mm or
75mm dia. exhaust duct connection adapter (option) to connect a duct hose to the exhaust port on
the instrument and discharge treated air to near the ventilation system or to the outdoors. If there is
no ventilation system in laboratory, take some kind of measure for discharging treated air to the
outdoors by using a duct hose.
* Maximum amount of exhausted gas per hour (reference)
