B - Procedures for starting the engines:
IX - SAILING
General recommendations
- Check that the ventilation ducts of the engines are not obstructed
- Do not smoke when the tanks are being filled
-Avoid all contact between inflammable materials and the hot parts of the engine
-Store petrol (and all these containers: outboard engines, tanks, petrol-powered generator, etc.) only in the
compartments provided for this purpose.
-Check the engine and drive levels every month.
-Check the sealing of the cable glands
-In each hull, check the opening of the water inlet valves and the condition of the filters
-Check that the cooling water comes out of the exhaust as well as the anti-siphon
hull inlet. In the event of a fault, read the engine manual carefully.
Keep clear of moving mechanical parts
of the engine, shaft lines, etc.
Sea water inlet valve
Do not use the starter for more than about ten seconds when starting the engine, as there is a risk of flooding
the exhaust with water and damaging the engine.
