CAU TION: Shorting any IN. CAP. or OUT filter pole to either power supply will usually blow the 2040.
To check the 2040. use a maximum-level sawtooth and no resonance. Adjust CUTOFF near sawtooth
frequency. Each OUT pole should show a 500-mV level, with progressive rounding of the wave¬
form. Measure full level output at the filter buffer (VOICE 1. U479-1).
5-14 POWER SUPPLY
Don't adjust R603 unless you replace U601 or U605. Don't replace any regulators unless they are
certainly bad.
The regulator tabs must be flat, the mica insulator well coated with thermal compound and the
regulator firmly mounted for maximum heat dissipation (see Figure 7-5).
