Autocollimation
In the autocollimation concept, which uses only one optical
lens, the beam of light emitted by the sensor and the light
beam reflected by the reflector lie on a single optical axis.
The emitted light passes through a semi-transparent mirror
before exiting the optical unit. After being reflected by the
reflector, the light beam is diverted to the receiver with the
aid of the same mirror. The advantage is that, unlike with the
dual lens concept, there is no blind zone in front of the
sensor.
BluePilot
BluePilot refers to the adjustment and display elements of
photoelectric sensors.
Photoelectric retro-reflective sensors and through-beam
photoelectric sensors: Blue LEDs show the quality of
alignment of the light spot on the reflector or receiver.
Photoelectric proximity sensors: For these, BluePilot
comprises two elements: The Teach-Turn adjustment is
used to set the sensing range. The blue LEDs, in this
case, show the configured sensing range (arranged in a
semicircle around the Teach-Turn adjustment).
Photoelectric sensors for detecting transparent objects:
For these, BluePilot comprises two elements: The Teach-
Turn adjustment is first used to select the operating mode
(= operating mode is displayed via the blue LEDs). The
switching threshold is adjusted by pressing the Teach-
Turn adjustment.
IO-Link
IO-Link is a non-proprietary internationally standardized
communication technology, which makes it possible to
communicate with sensors and actuators in industrial
environments (IEC 61131-9). IO-Link devices communicate
with higher-level control systems via an IO-Link master. The
IO-Link devices are connected to these via a point-to-point
connection.
IO-Link enables communication between controllers, sensors
and actuators and allows the parameterization and reading-
out of devices to be centrally managed.
MultiMode
Response time
The response time specifies the maximum amount of time
that elapses from when an event triggers the sensor to when
a signal is present at the output.
SOPAS ET
SICK Engineering Tool for configuring IO-Link devices
Software with a graphical user interface and convenient
visualization for configuring and parameterizing IO-Link
devices.
Corresponding visualization files (SDD = SOPAS Device
Description) are available for all devices so that you can
operate the IO-Link devices using SOPASET.
You can download SOPAS ET and the device-specific SDDs
directly and free of charge from the SICK homepage:
