Starting and stopping dithering
The dithering starts with the configured ramp up as soon as the DITHER bit is set in the
control interface (Page 55) during an active output sequence and a new dithering period
duration starts. After the start of the dithering, the STS_DITHER bit is set in the feedback
interface (Page 58).
As soon as you reset the DITHER bit, the configured ramp down begins with the subsequent
dithering period duration. After the ramp down finishes, the STS_DITHER bit is reset.
If the output sequence is aborted, the dithering is also aborted and the STS_DITHER bit is
reset.
The following figure shows an example of an output sequence with a duty cycle of 50%
without dithering.
The following figure shows an example of an output sequence with the following properties:
● Duty cycle = 50%
● Dithering period duration = 6 × Period duration of the PWM signal
● No ramp up/down
