7 Functional check
After switching on the generator, the limit LED light flashes for 1 to 2 seconds. The background
lighting of the display then slowly illuminates and the following information is briefly displayed:
the generator type, the firmware version, and in some cases the set bus address and other
relevant information.
After a short time the main screen of the generator is displayed. Once the generator is working
normally, the limit LED only illuminates if there is a problem with the high voltage, namely if the
set voltage or current cannot be supplied to the output. The operation of the generator can also
be checked via the operating signal. As soon as high voltage is supplied to the generator output
this signal becomes active.
Possible causes of overload are:
- Fouling of the charging bar/electrode.
- Direct contact between conductive material and the emitters.
- The charging bar has been fitted too close to conductive (machine) parts.
When the generator is operating in fieldbus mode with problem-free communication, this can be
seen by the rotating dash on the screen (see section 6.4).
