Table 7: Programming the Relay Option
Method Description
Text-based programming
The second prompt, shown below, asks you to select the Relay Mode.
[02] RELAY OPTIONS:
d 1 = Option One (Original Mode)
*2 = Option Two (Enhanced Mode)
(d=default, *=current setting)
Select Number(X=exit):
Enter the number corresponding to the Relay Operation you want to select and press the carriage return.

If you want to use the default choice (Original Mode), press the ACK key. To choose Enhanced Mode, press
the RESET key to move down in the list. When the desired choice is illuminated, press the ACK key to save the
selection in the memory and move to the next programming step.
6.5 Programming the IDC Circuit style
The setting of this option determines how the system interprets short and current-limited conditions on the IDCs and SPMs, as follows:
Style C operation. When Style C is selected, alarms are initiated on IDCs and SPMs only when a current-limited condition is present.
Shorts are always interpreted as troubles, which means abort and manual release switches must be installed on separate SPMs.
When Style C is selected for an agent release system, SPM1 is dedicated to abort operation, and SPM2 is dedicated for manual release
operation. Also, current-limited resistors, wired in series with each set of contacts, must be installed for either type of switch. See Wiring
Special Purpose Monitor Circuits in Chapter 3 for specific wiring instructions. Dual hazard Agent Release systems share the abort and
manual release circuits between hazards, meaning if a manual release device located in hazard 1 activates, both Releasing Appliance
Circuits activate and an agent release occurs in both hazards.
Class A/B operation. When the IDC circuit style is set to Class A/B operation, alarms are initiated on IDCs with either a short or current
limited alarm. When Class A or B operation is selected, the SPM circuits can be used for both abort and manual release switches. Abort
switches come into the system as current limited alarms. A manual release comes into the panel as a short. The maximum number of
abort switches on a circuit is five.
