5.3.4 Wiring Style C circuits
Style C is a mode of operation, selected at the time the panel is programmed, where the monitor circuit treats both open and shorts as
trouble conditions. With Style C operation, it is not possible to put both abort switches and manual release stations on the same circuit.
The abort switches must be UL Listed with an internal resistance of 1.2 K Ohms. The manual release switches must be UL Listed with an
internal resistance of 560 Ohms.
The following are specific Style C requirements:
The + connection from the SPM is made to the lead of the factory-installed current limiting resistor, as shown in Figure 21. The –
connection is made to the open terminal. The terminal that is connected to the current limiting resistor must not be tampered with.
Style C operation requires the wiring described in this section and also must be selected via a programming operation described in
Programming.
In Style C configurations, SPM1 only supports abort switches and SPM2 only supports manual release stations. See Wiring Special
Purpose Monitor circuits.
