Theechostrength(A)changeswithtime.Theminimumlevelofdetection(B)isadjusted
upordownwiththeGainfunction.IncreasingtheGainwithamorepositivenumber
reducestheminimumlevel,andthisincreasesthesensitivity.Onlyechoesoverthe
minimumlevelareshownintheechogram(C).
DonotconfusethisGainsettingwiththeTVG(TimeV ariedGain)setting.
Tip
Duringnormaloperatingconditionswerecommendthatyoukeepthegainbetween15
and30.Ifyouneedtoadjustthegain"fromscratch"disableAGC(AutomaticGain
Control)andRCG(ReverberationControlledGain)toseetheimmediateeffectofthe
gainadjustments.Whileyouadjustthegainyoumaynditusefultohaveaknown
target(forexampleanisland)asreference.
