Visualinspectionofthehullunit
Avisualinspectionofthehullunitisrequiredtomakesurethattheunithasnotbeen
physicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.Itisalsoimportanttocheckthattheunithas
beeninstalledcorrectly.
Prerequisites
TheSU90hasbeensetupwithitshardwareunitsconnectedasspeciedintheSU90
Installationmanual.TheSU90isturnedoff.Youneedthefollowingequipment:
•Multimeter
Procedure
1Makesurethattheunit’sserialnumberhasbeenrecordedinthelistofhardware
items.
2Makesurethatthehullunitisinstalledinthecorrectlocation,andthatitissuitably
orientedforeasymaintenanceandreplacementofparts.
3Makesurethattheunitisnotphysicallydamaged,andthatthepaint-workisclean
withoutdentsorscratches.
Thephysicalhandlingoftheunitduringtheinstallationmayhavecausedsome
minorscratchestothepaint-work.Thiscanbeaccepted.However,ifrough
handlinghascausedseriousdamagetotheunit,thismustberecordedwithawritten
statementandnecessaryphotos,sothatcorrectiveactionscanbemade.
4Makesurethattheunithasbeenidentiedwiththerelevantproductlabel(s),and
thatonelabelincludesthepartandserialnumbers.
5Makesurethatthephysicalinstallationoftheunithasbeencompleted.
aMakesurethattheweldsandbracketsusedtosupportthehullunitare
substantialenoughtoholdtheunitsecurelyunderalloperatingconditions.
bMakesurethatthecompartment("sonarroom")inwhichthehullunitis
mountediscleananddry.
cMakesurethatamplespaceisprovidedaroundtheunittoallowfor
maintenanceandreplacementofparts.
dMakesurethatthebolts,screwsorstudsholdingtheunitareofthecorrectsize.
eMakesurethatthecorrectatandshake-proofwashershavebeenused.
fMakesurethatallnutshavebeentightenedproperly.
gMakesurethatallweldsandbracketshavebeenpaintedwiththecorrect
preservationmediumtopreventcorrosion.
6Makesurethatcableinstallationhasbeencompleted.
aMakesurethatallcablesleadingtoandfromtheunithavebeenproperly
mountedandsecured.
