Inordertooperatecorrectly,theSU90requiresinputfromaspeedlog.Thevesselspeed
isshownonthetopbarifyouhaveenabledthisintheDisplayOptionsdialogbox.The
communicationwiththesensoristested.
Prerequisites
Thisprocedureassumesthat:
•ThesensorisconnectedtotheSU90.Itisswitchedonandinnormaloperation.
•Theinterfaceportissetupwiththecorrectcommunicationparameters.
•YouarefamiliarwithNMEAandotherrelevantdatagramformats.
•Youknowhowtosetuptheparametersforserialandlocalareanetwork(LAN)
communication.
•Thevesselisberthedoratsea.
•Allrelevantvesseldrawings,installationreportsand/ormeasurementresultsare
available.
•TheSU90systemisturnedonandoperatesnormally.
Neithertoolsnorinstrumentsarerequired.

Note
ThespeedinputisessentialforSU90operation.Withoutspeedinformation,theSU90
willneitherbeabletopresentcorrectnavigationalinformation,norcompensatefor
vesselmovements.ThislackofcompensationwillpreventtheSU90fromproviding
correctechoinformation.Ifyoudonotuseadedicatedspeedlog,butratheraGPS
system,youcanskipthistest.
Inmostcasesasuitablesensorisalreadyinstalledonthevessel.Aglobalpositioning
system(GPS)withacompatibleoutputformatcanalsobeused.
