For permanent installations, and where the network length is more than 100m or so,
Solartron recommend and can supply the following DIN-rail mounted device from KK
Systems Ltd.
KD485-ADE Solartron part number 550003500
The KD485-ADE is three-way isolated, providing isolation between the two ports and the
power supply. It requires a +7 to +35V power supply and typically takes 1 to 2W; (power
consumption is largely independent of supply voltage). It is capable of working with
Windows 3.1, 95, 98, and NT.
The default configuration of the KD485-ADE has Port 2 configured for 9600 baud.
Further details of this device, including configuration, are available in the User Manual
which is supplied with the product.
