Usable cassettes
You can use the _ini_-vmini DV cassette only*. You cannot use any other [] 8 mm,
_lil_ HiS, 1} Digital& [Vfl$VHS, :$11SI'_VHSC, svlIS S-VHS, siVfiSr_ S-VHSC, Ill
Betamax. _ ED Betamax or IL_"DV cassette.
* There are two types of mini DV cassettes: with cassette memory and without cassette
memory. Tapes with cassette memory have {Iq (Cassette Memory) mark. Sony
recommends that you use a tape with (1#1mark to enjoy your camcorder flflly.
Tile IC memory is built in tile cassette with cassette memory. Using tiffs IC memory,
your camcorder can read, write, and search data such as tile {late of recording or titles.
Tile flmctions using tile cassette memory require successive signals recorded on tile
tape. If tile tape has a blank portion in tile beginning or between tile recorded portions,
a title may not be displayed properly or the search flmctions may not work correctly.
Not to make any blank portion on tile tape, press END SEARCH to return to tile end of
tile recorded portion before you begin tile next recording when:
You have ejected tile cassette while recording.
You have played back tile tape in VCR mode.
If there is a blank portion or discontinuous signal on your tape, re record fl'om tile
beginning to tile end of tile tape concerning above.
When you record, using a digital video camera recorder without a cassette memory
function, on a tape recorded by one with tile cassette memory flmction, tile same result
may Occur,
(Iq4K mark on the cassette
Tile memory capacity of tapes marked with {Iq4K is 4 Kb. Your camcorder carl
accommodate up to 16 Kb. 16 Kb tape is marked with (Iq16K.

When you play back
When you connect your camcorder to any other video camera recorder to dub a tape
that has recorded copyright control signals for copyright protection, you may not
record the tape that played back on your camcorder.
When you record
You cannot record software on your camcorder that contains copyright control
signals for copyright protection of software.
"COPY INHIBIT" appears on tile LCD screen, in tile viewfinder or on tile TV screen if'
you try to record such software.
Your camcorder does not record copyright control signals on tile tape when it records.
